Paramount+ - Hauntings

'Hauntings' is a four-part documentary series that explores some of the most horrifying paranormal activities that have occurred in Britain and America over the last 50 years.

As the Art Direction and Animation Lead for the animation team, I led the creative direction for the motion design of the series.

The team experimented with real-time animation using software such as Unreal Engine and Midjourney, which allowed us to create stunning visuals at an incredibly fast speed.

Our innovative pipeline allowed us to work with the production team as the edit was being assembled, which helped inform and shape the edit with little to no wait time on their part. By utilizing the Adobe suite, we were able to translate complex data into story-driven 3D scenes that fit perfectly into the series.

The main challenge for this project was to create visuals that would complement and enhance the documentary without overpowering the personal testimonies. We wanted to create a visually stunning series that captivated the audience while maintaining a respectful tone towards the subject matter.

The final result was a haunting and visually stunning series that captivated audiences and left them on the edge of their seats. Our real-time animation pipeline and close collaboration with the production team resulted in a streamlined production process, saving countless hours of waiting on renders. The series was a success, with high viewership numbers on Paramount+ and positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Being a part of the 'Hauntings' project was an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of motion design in documentary storytelling. By utilizing innovative technology and close collaboration with the production team, we were able to create a visually stunning series that captivated audiences and left a lasting impact.

The series is now available to watch on Paramount+ UK, with the US launch coming shortly.
